           Our Objectives

Majyk Scraps Textile Group was formed in September 2000 and is composed of ex creative studies students who all work as individuals to produce a broad range of textile pieces, from traditional quilted work to the innovative and experimental.

It is our goal to celebrate the broad diversity of work in this field, continuing our development and supporting one another in our work.

Group Profile

Majyk Scraps Textile Group members have all successfully completed  the certificate, and many the diploma, in city and guilds creative patchwork and quilting.

We are a small group (currently just seven strong) based in Suffolk. We meet monthly, set regular challenges and work both independently and together to produce textile pieces.

Several members have had their work published and we held a very successful inaugural exhibition in April 2001 which we repeated with a second in June 2003 (both at the Tithe Barn Sproughton, Nr Ipswich.) Our third exhibition in 2005 (Suffolk Theme) was held at Bowling Green Crafts, Badingham. We exhibited in 2006 (Tactile Treasures) at the cinema gallery in Aldeburgh - our group quilt that year won third place at the national quilt championships. A selection of these quilts travelled around the 2007 Spring Quilt Festivals run by Grosvenor Exhibitions Ltd and were subsequently reviewed in Popular Patchwork magazine. Our next exhibition (No Grey Areas) is planned for 21st - 26th July 2007 again at the cinema gallery in Aldeburgh.

Our 2006 group quilt won 3rd place and judges choice at the National Quilt Championships in Birmingham.

Several members belong to the Quilters Guild and the Embroiderers Guild
