My introduction to art and design came through completing
a City and Guild course in Patchwork and Quilting. The core subjects of
the course were design development and art techniques along with practical
patchwork and quilting skills.
My style of textile art incorporates
a wide variety of techniques including hand and machine embroidery,
digital image processing and fabric printing. Pieces are made using
commercial fabric, paper, plastic, felt and found natural objects. A
feature of my work is fabric printed on a home computer incorporating
manipulated digital images.
I am a member of the Contemporary Quilt
Group, a specialist section of the British Quilters Guild. My work has
been exhibited with this group at the Festival of Quilts, the Loch Lomond
Quilt show and the Minerva Summer Exhibition. One of my pieces has
recently been featured in the German Textile Magazine, Patchwork
Professional.
The above images are a selection taken from my recent
work. |
