I have been involved in patchwork and quilting since 1993,
before which my creative interest was in spinning and weaving. I attended
Otley college City and Guilds Creative Studies course in Patchwork and
quilting, completing Part 1 certificate in 1997 and Part 2 Diploma in
2000. I also hold a City and Guilds qualification in teaching for Adult
education. I am currently teaching textiles at various
locations in Suffolk, these include Saturday workshops at Sew Creative in
Bury St Edmunds, regular weekly courses at Badingham village hall and at
Sew and So's in Bungay and residential weekend courses
at Belstead House, Ipswich. I enjoy the challenge of
developing new ideas for myself and my students . My quilts have been
exhibited at national shows where they have been included in the brochures
and seen on TV, with a large wall hanging, 'sail free' featured in the
book 'Quilters Guide to Pictorial Quilts' by Maggi McCormick
Gordon. My style ranges from the traditional to innovative
new directions in patchwork, including landscapes and machine embroidery.
I enjoy strong colour and bring techniques from other disciplines into my
work. I am currently producing monthly journal quilts for exhibition with
the Contemporary Quilt Group and preparing a body of work for this years
Suffolk Open Studios and Majyk Scraps exhibitions. I am a
member of the Quilters Guild and the Contemporary Quilt Group,
Embroiderers Guild and Suffolk Open Studios. This year my studio will be open
for you to view my work on 14/15th and 21/22nd June 2009. All visitors are
very welcome. I will also be exhibiting at 'Art on the Prom'
Felixstowe 30th August 2009 10am - 4pm. |
